1) Best Cannabis Movies: Grace’s Weed (2000)
Even though this film was produced over twenty years ago, it remains a cult classic in European cannabis culture, as well as a film appreciated worldwide! Set in Cornwall, this is the story of a middle-aged woman, Grace Trevethyn, a passionate gardener and beloved throughout the village. Her life is turned upside down by the sudden death of her husband, leaving her in a sea of debt, with the beautiful villa she lives in at risk of being confiscated.
Grace, who hasn’t worked a single day in her life, must now quickly find a way to earn a lot of money to save her beloved home. An idea that could help her comes from Matthew, her trusted gardener: replacing her beloved orchids, which grow in the greenhouse outside the house, with marijuana plants.
After initial dismay, the elderly Grace accepts Matthew’s proposal and begins growing weed, which will soon flourish thanks to her gardening skills. To find buyers, the lady will travel to London, fully dressed, to find a dealer interested in the merchandise. It will be the beginning of a very profitable business, but it won’t last long…

2) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1999)
Plot: Based on the novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson, the film follows journalist Raoul Duke and his lawyer Dr. Gonzo as they travel across the desert to Las Vegas. Along the way, they embark on a series of psychedelic and chaotic drug-fueled adventures.
Why it’s a Must-See: “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” is a total immersion in a lysergic and surreal trip. The depiction of the psychedelic trip and its approach to the absurd make it a unique viewing experience, ideal for those seeking an out-of-the-ordinary adventure.
3) The Grass Brothers (2009)
Bill and Brady Kincaid, both played by Edward Norton, are twins. Bill Kincaid is a respected professor of classical philosophy at Brown University, while Brady lives in Oklahoma, where he sells high-quality hydroponic marijuana.
Bill is highly regarded in the academic community, so much so that he’s offered the opportunity to open his own philosophy department at Harvard. His twin brother, Brady, is at war with local drug lord Pug Rothbaum, a prominent member of the Jewish community who has decided to finance his business. Brady has decided to give up marijuana because his girlfriend Colleen is about to have a baby, but Rothbaum tries to pressure him into continuing the business, demanding immediate repayment of the money he lent him if he doesn’t agree to cooperate.
One day, Rick Bolger, Brady’s good business partner, calls Bill to inform him that his brother has died in a drug deal gone bad. Despite having long since severed ties with the entire family, Bill immediately flies to Oklahoma for Brady’s funeral: It’s just the beginning of a long adventure!

4) Best Marijuana Movies of All Time: Into the Wild (2008)
Plot: Based on the true story of Christopher McCandless, the film follows the young man as he abandons his conventional life and embarks on a journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Along the way, he discovers himself, nature, and the challenges life presents him.
Why it’s a Must-See: “Into the Wild” offers a profound reflection on the search for meaning and adventure in life. The engaging story and connection to nature make this film an ideal choice for those who love smoking cannabis and contemplating life’s great mysteries. But be warned… “Into the Wild” is a great drama, not for those who don’t want to shed tears or indulge in a fully introspective film!
5) 2 Get High (2001)
The story of this masterpiece centers on two American pot smokers, Silas and Jamal (played by the fantastic rappers Method Man and Redman). When his friend Ivory dies in a strange chain of unbelievable accidents, Silas uses his ashes as fertilizer to grow a new batch of his high-quality marijuana.
Before his THC (Testing for Higher Credentials, a mockery of the SAT Reasoning Test), the college entrance exam, he meets Jamal, a young man still living at home with his elderly mother. Jamal is driven by her to take the exam, hoping this will be the right time to get him out of the house.
They both want to smoke marijuana before the exam, but they need each other’s help, and thus begins their friendship. Because the plant they smoke was fertilized with Ivory’s ashes, his ghost appears to the two friends and helps them on the test, always helping them pass with perfect scores.
While the teachers are doubtful of the boys’ qualifications to offer them scholarships, they themselves are not particularly attracted to it. Dean Huntley suggests the two of them enter the renowned Harvard University anyway. They accept the offer and continue to use the “magic” herb to succeed, achieving ever greater results. However, the cannabis will soon run out, along with the help of their missing friend…

6) Ted (2012-2015)
Plot: John Bennett, a grown man, has an unusual best friend: a teddy bear named Ted, who came to life thanks to a childhood wish. While John tries to grow up and maintain a serious relationship, Ted continues to be a quirky and hilarious presence in his life.
Why it’s a Must-See: “Ted” offers irreverent comedy and a touch of fantasy, with cannabis serving as the backdrop for absurd situations. The film captures the lightheartedness of childhood and enduring friendship, offering laughs and moments of reflection for cannabis lovers.
7) Pineapple Express (2008)
Bailiff Dale Denton, played by celebrated actor Seth Rogen, visits his drug dealer friend Saul Silver (also played by another great actor, James Franco) for one reason: to buy marijuana, specifically an exquisitely rare strain called “Pineapple Express.”
While smoking a joint in his car while waiting to hand over some court documents, Dale witnesses a murder, becoming the only eyewitness. In a moment of panic, the man flees the scene, throwing half a joint of the highly valuable weed out the window.
At this point, Dale has a doubt and returns to Saul’s house to clarify it: can the killers (a corrupt police officer and a major drug lord) trace his identity through the rare strain of marijuana contained in the joint? Saul believes so. After realizing that they aren’t suffering from paranoia related to their use of weed, the two friends begin a daring escape from the city to try to save their skins!

8) Best Weed Movies of All Time: “Kid Cannabis” (2014)
Plot: Based on the true story of a teenager who made a fortune trafficking marijuana across the Canadian border, the film follows Nate Norman as he tries to make quick money and become a major cannabis dealer in the United States.
Why It’s a Must-See: “Kid Cannabis” offers a fascinating look at marijuana dealing culture and the adventures of an ambitious young man. The story, based on real events, and the depiction of an underground world make the film intriguing for those interested in cannabis and its history.
9) We’re the Millers (2013)
David Burke is a small-time dealer of high-quality marijuana. His clientele includes chefs and middle-class mothers, but no kids because, after all, he considers himself a man of principles. Despite his efforts to remain unnoticed, he learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished when, while helping some local teenagers, he is attacked by a group of thugs. After a very unfortunate escape, they catch up with him and steal his weed and money, leaving him in heavy debt to his dealer, Brad.
In order to set things right, David is forced to collaborate on Brad’s latest operation: a large shipment of marijuana arriving from Mexico. Dave decides to accept, hatching a plan that will unwittingly involve his three neighbors: the cynical stripper Rose, played by the legendary Jennifer Aniston; his young neighbor Kenny; and the tattooed and cunning teenager Casey.
David then devises the perfect plan: to pretend to be a family, with his wife, Rose, and his two fake teenage children, Kenny and Casey. Aboard a very luxurious (and very spacious!) camper, the “Millers” head towards the southern border of the United States.

10) The Forbidden Herb (2002)
In the subtitle, the many accomplices in this unmissable montage practice before shooting all the joints in the world: Everything you wanted to know about hemp that they never told you. Well said.
Did you know that in the 1930s, they showed crazy propaganda films against marijuana in the United States? Or that, after the end of World War II, the Seven Sisters of Oil declared war on hemp, used as an environmentally friendly fuel? Or that Italy, until the 1950s, was the world’s second largest grower? And that hemp is also used to make rope, netting, paper, and various oils…?
These and other answers are delightfully reported in this entertaining, fast-paced, timely, political, and scientifically “tested” Italian documentary film, which, after appearing in cinemas in major Italian cities, was distributed on VHS and DVD by the newspaper “Manifesto.”
