Thai Regular by ACE Seeds isn’t a strain for everyone, but it’s a genetic treasure for landrace Sativa purists. This strain comes directly from the mountains of Chiang Mai province in northern Thailand and has been preserved by ACE for generations without any crossbreeding with modern strains.
In technical forums like ICMag, Thai Regular is considered one of the most authentic expressions of “high-energy” tropical cannabis.
Growing these seeds means stepping back in time, experiencing a plant that hasn’t been manipulated for the commercial market, preserving its wild character, its long, flexible branches, and its very thin, almost needle-like leaves.
Challenges of Growing and Managing a Pure Landrace Indoors
From a cultivation perspective, Thai Regular represents the ultimate challenge. Indoors, it requires an expert hand and meticulous planning.
According to reports on Seedfinder, this strain can require 16 to 20 weeks of flowering, a time that discourages commercial growers but rewards collectors with a unique product. Stretch is impressive: the plant can quintuple in size once it enters flowering.
Many professional growers use a photoperiod of 10 hours of light and 14 hours of darkness from the start to try to tame it. Its resistance to molds and heat is among the best in the world, as it is a plant evolved to thrive in environments with extreme humidity and consistently high temperatures.
Aromatic profile: Oriental spices and woody citrus
The terpene profile of Thai Regular is as far removed from modern American “candy” hybrids as one can imagine. On the nose, it releases a pungent aroma of fermented lemon, sandalwood, and exotic spices reminiscent of black pepper and curry.
Many phenotypes feature earthy and musky base notes that become more pronounced with lengthy curing, which is absolutely necessary for this strain (at least 4-6 months). On the palate, the smoke is light but incredibly aromatic, leaving a long-lasting balsamic trail.
It’s a fragrance that veteran THCFarmers call “old school,” reminiscent of the legendary “Thai Sticks” of the 1970s.
An electric and psychedelic high without limits
The effect is the real reason Thai Regular continues to be sought after despite its difficult cultivation. It’s a purely cerebral high, electric and stimulating, devoid of any physical heaviness.
There’s no so-called “ceiling”: the more you consume, the more the mental ascent continues, leading to states of euphoria, explosive creativity, and, in high doses, psychedelic-like altered sensory perceptions.
It’s the perfect strain for artistic pursuits, music, or hiking, as it infuses inexhaustible mental energy. A technical tip: use small pots and minimal organic nutrition to prevent the plant from growing too quickly and losing control of the grow room.
The Purity of the Jungle: The Chiang Mai Lineage
If we had to choose a single sativa from the genetic jewels offered by Southeast Asia, it would undoubtedly be a beautiful Thai strain like this, for its high quality and global relevance.
A traditional pure sativa from Chiang Mai in Thailand’s Golden Triangle, recently bred as part of our extensive research and preservation work on this ancient Thai lineage across many of its generations, identifying and preserving strains that encompass the best qualities and most emblematic psychoactive effects of classic Thai sativas.
Like a true, pure tropical sativa, this Chiang Mai Thai strain has a long flowering period, lasting 3-4 months, with successive blooms and extremely high resistance to humidity and botrytis fungi. Its bracts and trichomes swell to enormous proportions at final maturity.
This is a strain in which the majority of the population remains green until the end, even at low temperatures, although beautiful reddish Thai expressions can occasionally be found.
In 10-15% of the population, we found more compact, robust, and productive plants, maturing more quickly (about 3 months), with denser flowers and better adaptability to indoor cultivation. However, the most interesting terpenes and effects are found in the longer-flowering plants (4 months) with more pointed flower structures.
Three main terpene profiles can be identified in this strain: the first and most classic Thai is fresh, lemony, woody, and spicy. The second group features sweet, creamy, and more refined floral and musky aromas. Finally, a third group (around 5-10%) stands out for its intense strawberry aromas, unusual in Thai strains.
The effects are very cerebral, with no tolerance limits and a very clean yield thanks to its quality tropical sativa essence and its high THC and zero CBD phenotype.
If you dig deep, this Thai landrace offers all the effect profiles we find in the sativas of this beautiful country: from positive, pleasant, friendly and revitalizing effects (both physically and psychologically), to more euphoric and nervous effects, even psychedelic or more introspective.
Despite the (not always deserved) bad reputation of the Thai cannabis family in terms of hermaphroditism, this well-crafted Thai variety that we offer you is sexually stable, with rare cases of problematic hermaphroditism.
We hope this new conservation work that we present to the cannabis community satisfies our loyal fans (who have been asking us to offer good Thai pure for a decade again), as well as lovers of traditional pure sativas and the most purist of conservationists.
