Moroccan Beldia Regular is a unique strain, harvested directly from the Rif Mountains of Morocco. This genetics formed the basis of the legendary Moroccan hashish of the 1970s and 1980s. ACE Seeds has preserved this pure landrace strain, distinguished by its semi-autoflowering behavior.
These regular seeds are an invaluable resource for those who wish to preserve Morocco’s oldest and most authentic genetics, before they were contaminated by modern hybrids. It is a hardy plant, accustomed to poor soil and limited irrigation.
A unique life cycle: early flowering and extreme resistance
Moroccan Beldia has evolved a very rapid life cycle. Outdoors, it ripens as early as August, avoiding autumn rains and mold problems. Indoors, it flowers in about 7-8 weeks.
Its structure is typically candelabra-like, with long branches that produce slender flowers laden with a very distinctive resin, less sticky than that of modern hybrids but rich in terpenes. It’s a plant that dislikes excessive fertilization and prefers minimalist, almost dry-farming, growing regimes.
Aromas of earth, wood, and desert spices
Aromatically, Beldia exudes history. It features a dominant aroma of cedarwood, oriental spices, and an earthy base reminiscent of Rif dust. On the palate, the smoke is dry and resinous, with notes of honey and traditional “blonde” hashish. Don’t expect artificial fruity flavors; the authenticity of a wild plant reigns supreme.
The resin produced is ideal for dry extraction (sifting), where it reveals its full aromatic potential and its grainy, golden texture.
Balanced high: the natural medicine of Morocco
The effect of Moroccan Beldia is moderate and very functional. It offers pleasant physical relaxation combined with a sense of mental well-being and tranquility. It’s the perfect strain for those seeking a light smoke that won’t interfere with daily activities.
In Morocco, it has historically been used for social and meditative purposes. Thanks to its balanced cannabinoid profile, it’s excellent for combating anxiety and daily stress. A tip for breeders: Beldia is fantastic for creating new, resistant, and early hybrids.
The Rif Heritage: The Hashish Landrace Par Excellence
Moroccan Beldia Regular by Ace Seeds is the traditional hashish plant from the Rif area near Ketama and Chefchaouen, famous for the production of kif (the traditional blend of cannabis flowers with tobacco) and the famous Moroccan blonde hashish.
This pure regular Moroccan strain is one of the fastest psychoactive sativa landraces on the planet, thanks to her semi autoflowering traits and very short flowering time.
Traditionally, this strain is sown in early spring, begins flowering in June, and is harvested as early as August, when it begins to be worked and beaten by hand to produce the traditional Moroccan hash, the quality of which varies according to the size of the sieve and the amount of time the flowers are beaten.
Moroccan plants are small/medium sized. They start out with fairly broad leaves, but as they reach sexual maturity and flowering they develop into a pure sativa with foxtail floral structures, quickly building up to form good sized buds. There are 2 main phenotypes based on their structure.
The more common phenotype grows very columnar and tall, while the second phenotype is smaller, shorter and more branched.
Ace Seeds’ regular Moroccan Beldia is grown with a very high plant density in its native land, with very little fertilizer and water, which means that it has developed excellent resistance to heat and drought, performing perfectly with little care and low nutrient levels, making it an ideal strain for outdoor guerrilla growing in hot, dry climates.
Morocco is the largest producer of hashish in the world, with its famous hashish being the most exported, especially to Europe. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the 21st century, a massive introduction of foreign indoor genetics from Europe and North America has taken place in Morocco in order to increase hash production and potency.
Although this has been achieved on some farms where these foreign genetics are grown with greater care, genetic contamination has also meant that Moroccan hashish has gradually lost its characteristic psychoactivity and the distinctive “golden” and soft terpenes, which made Moroccan hashish is a global benchmark in the 20th century cannabis scene.
Some Moroccan growers have now realized that these new foreign genetics require much more care, water and fertiliser, are harvested much later than traditional Moroccan varieties and do not have the same resistance to heat and pests outdoors.
Old Moroccan varieties are still best suited to growing in large remote plots with scarce irrigation resources that cannot be tended as carefully.
For this reason, a group of old school Moroccan growers offered us ancient Moroccan seeds for their reproduction and conservation, before the relentless genetic contamination completely wipes out the old Moroccan strains in their original state.
As a result of this conservation work, ACE Seeds brings you this mythical hash plant in its purest original regular form.
